The jury has reached a verdict in Hollywood actor Johnny Depp’s $50 million defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. They found in favour of Johnny Depp in all three statements, awarding him $US15 million in damages. 7NEWS
The jury did, however, also find in favour of Heard on one statement - that Depp’s lawyer defamed her when he called her abuse allegations a hoax.“This is a massive massive win for them [Depp’s team],” said leading lawyer Emily. Heard looked down as the verdict was read, while chanting from supporters of Johnny Depp could be heard outside the court.“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words,” Heard wrote. “I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence and sway of my husband.”“It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated.
