Uncertainty over Justin Langer’s future as national team coach will go on after Cricket Australia’s board resolved on Friday to talk further with him.
“We will now enter into confidential discussions with Justin and the outcome will be announced as soon as possible.During Langer’s time as coach since May, 2018, Australia have won 15 of 27 Tests, including retaining the Ashes in England for the first time in 18 years. But the key sticking point for Langer has long been more about his intensity off the field than Australia’s results on it, with reports that it rubbed on players.
It prompted high-powered meetings between senior players and cricket administrators, with Langers agreeing to loosen his grip on the team.
