Vice President Kamala Harris made more than President Joe Biden off of book royalties last year, according to their financial disclosures released by the White House on Monday.
show that Biden, 80, made “less than $201” in royalties off his 2007 book “Promises to Keep: On Life” and between $2,501 and $5,000 from “Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose,” his memoir published in 2017.
The disclosure forms also show that Biden took out a home equity loan from M&T Bank against one of his Delaware houses for between $15,001 and $50,000 in 2022. Harris reported earning more than $80,000 in royalties last year from her two books. It’s unclear why the first family took out the loan against the house – which Biden and his wife Jill reportedly purchased in 2017 for nearly $3 million.
The first lady reported earning between $5,001 and $15,000 in royalties from her 2020 children’s book “Joey — The Story of Joe Biden,” and less than $1,000 from her 2012 children’s book “Don’t Forget, God Bless Our Troops.” In total, the disclosures show the Bidens own investments and holdings worth somewhere between $1.09 million and $2.57 million, and owe between $250,000 and $500,000 on a mortgage for one of their Delaware homes.
