In heated scenes at Margaret Court Arena on Saturday morning, Kambosos initially weighed in at 135.36lb — around 140 grams over the limit. He had until 12.30pm to shed the weight and get under the limit to defend his IBF, WBA and WBO belts against WBC champion Haney. They were dramatic scenes as Kambosos took off his underwear and stood behind a white towel on the scales as Haney’s loud entourage heckled him from close range. The two fighters barked at each other at the face-off between the pair before Kambosos’ father, Jim, almost became involved in a physical confrontation with Haney’s people.
