Katarina will be competing in the heptathlon on Thursday, August 8.
Katarina Johnson-Thompson has explained whether Pairs will be the last time she competes in an Olympic games. Over the course of her career, she has scooped numerous gold medals in the heptathlon and pentathlon but so far an Olympic medal has proved elusive. This time around, she is hoping for a more positive experience than in Tokyo, which was curtailed by injury. The 31-year-old suffered a serious Achilles problem beforehand but was declared fit.
” Despite withdrawing from the European Championships in Rome in June due to a 'little niggle', Katarina is feeling positive about what’s to come and denied suggestions that this will be her last Olympics. She said: “I do feel that everyone is rooting for me, because they’ve seen the traumatic things, but I want to reclaim the image of myself. I struggled in 2022, thinking that I was past my best. Now I’m feeling like I’m at my best because of all the experiences that I’ve had.
