Kate Garraway feels 'depressed' caring for Derek but desperate for him to survive
The broadcaster and Good Morning Britain presenter, 55, has been caring for Derek since his health dramatically deteriorated after contracting Covid-19 in 2020.
"Because that's the thing with caring, you want it to carry on because you want the person to be surviving and still with you, so that you CAN care for them, but there isn't an endpoint and it doesn't get any easier." The documentary came as a result of Derek becoming the longest-suffering hospital in-patient with Covid-19. "Doctors explained there was no alternative but to operate. Of course, Kate and the family are worried but she’s been reassured the procedure itself is routine.
