Katy Perry says everyone’s been singing ‘Firework’ wrong this whole time...
judge Luke Bryan when he attempted to sing the song that, quote, “It’s not ‘up, up, up,’ and it’s not ‘ah, ah, ah,’” per. Bryan then asked the question on all of America’s mind: “What is it then? Because I’ve been dying to know all these years.” Haven’t we all been dying to know this for years!?
Straight from Perry: “It’s ‘awe, awe, awe,’ everybody. Get it right! It’s not ‘Fireworks’ it’s ‘Firework.’”A-w-was in “I am in awe of this firework and so I exclaim out loud the word awe.” That said, it does rhyme better with the next line, “As you shoot across the sky.” But Katy isn’t done yet. The songstress took to Instagram to point out that it wasn’t even she who came up with this conceit; it was Jack Kerouac in, so take it up with him! She posted a clip of the interaction and a screenshot from Kerouac.com explaining the reference. Here Katy is back in the day explaining it in her own words. Please note she was going full “Uncut Gyeahms” far before Julia Fox ever spotted a Yeezy.
