Manchester United have already made their minds up on the manager but reports had framed Sir Jim Ratcliffe as an admirer of Southgate.
Gareth Southgate will not be Manchester United manager for the foreseeable future after Erik ten Hag was given a belated vote of confidence by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Southgate has, of course, now stepped down from his role as England boss after eight years in charge. “They’d look like they don’t know what they’re doing. And, there’s no way Gareth can announce before a major tournament. He won’t do that.”“I could see that happening . Well, obviously everyone’s thinking he’s probably going to be with England this summer if he has a good Championship, thinking if they could win it.
“I would like to see him get the chance to be honest, considering what he’s achieved with England. Yes, there’s still question marks about his in-game management and tactics, but it would certainly be satisfying for him if he were to be offered the role and everyone would be interested to see how he gets on.”
