TPC River Highlands never stood a chance.
The 15-under-par scores posted by 36-hole co-leaders Keegan Bradley and Denny McCarthy at the Travelers Championship were tournament records for the halfway mark.
“I’ve wanted to win this tournament forever,’’ Bradley said. “When I got my PGA Tour card in 2010 going into ’11, the first thought in my mind wasn’t to play the majors, whatever, it was I get to come play Hartford. It was my first PGA Tour event I ever went to. Bradley has played 54 holes with only one bogey in the tournament, that coming on his 14th hole in the opening round.Chez Reavie, hitting a tee shot in the 13th hole, shot a third-round 63 and is in second place, one shot off the lead, at the Travelers Championship.He’s a five-time PGA Tour winner who’s held a 54-hole lead five times in his career, but never converted one of those into a victory.
Patrick Cantlay, watching his tee shot on the 15th hole, shot a third-round 61 to move into third place at the Travelers Championship.One thing Reavie knows won’t be different is the fanfare for Bradley, the New Englander.
