Two protests with very different views on immigration to be held in Lincoln city centre
Competing RAF Scampton protests are planned for Lincoln city centre, with one urging ‘Keep Lincoln Nazi free’.
The anti-immigrant ‘Enough Is Enough’ march and a pro-immigrant event will both take place on Saturday, July 8.The ‘Enough is Enough’ protest says that the £300m investment in the former airbase was “destroyed by government, immigration and asylum seekers”.A rival protest from Lincoln Trades Council and Stand Up To Racism plan to oppose it, saying: “Hitler lookalike Alex Yerbury and his fascist friends plan to march through Lincoln.
"They are attempting to stir up hatred and division over the use of the ex-RAF base to house asylum seekers.”It adds: “The government’s illegal dispersal bill and its Illegal Migration Bill and Rwanda plan are all about scapegoating these refugees. These policies are an attempt to divide and rule us.“The Far Right want to grow off the back of government policies and anti-refugee rhetoric.
“We can’t allow Lincoln to be divided by the fascists. Let’s show our unity and oppose Yerbury and his crew on July 8."This will be followed by the Enough is Enough march at 12pm at the same place.
