'We see levelling up on buildings but not on levelling up of people.'

Investment hasn't been absent in Blackpool over recent years. Just this week, plans for a £65m multiversity campus were rubber-stamped.

Following the resignation of Blackpool South MP Scott Benton, the political spotlight has fallen on the town. A by-election looms on May 2. Although this promise looks good for locals, Blackpool has benefitted from a number of Conservative Levelling-up cash injections in recent months. Despite these projects and more to come, Labour doesn't think it goes far enough.

He added: "That's the difference we could make if we are able to form the next government, which is a government that understands what comes alongside it. In order to that, you absolutely have to understand the pressures and the challenges that people here are facing. He told LancsLive: "One of the biggest things for me is the regeneration of South Shore and the residential areas. They feel forgotten about. We see levelling up on buildings but not on levelling up of people. Last year when Keir was here, we walked the streets of Waterloo Road and Bond Street - Keir saw himself how those areas have been forgotten about by this Tory government and what needs to happen.
