The source of the issue seems to be a pre-planned holiday duet that Blake and Kelly were supposed to perform onThere was too much back and forth between the two to completely keep track, but it sounds like Blake sent Kelly a text as a joke, and she took it as him wanting to nix their song. She also said that she thought he had a lot to juggle already, so if he wasn’t interested then she wouldn’t make him go through with it.
Later, he referenced the Christmas carol in question and made it seem like it didn’t speak to him because it was from a “female perspective about being pregnant.” Which only makes things more confusing, to be honest. The reporter tried to get the pair back on track, but it wasn’t long until it went off the rails again. Blake joked that NBC was now the “Nothing But Clarkson network” which prompted Kelly to say he doesn’t like her anymore.
