Queensland Opposition Leader David Crisafulli has pegged his political future to reducing victim of crime numbers within four years if the LNP wins the October 26 state election.

The sister of Kelly Wilkinson, Danielle Carroll, says the LNP 's plan would have been the difference between life and death for her sister. The sister of murdered Gold Coast woman Kelly Wilkinson says an LNP plan to place trackers on domestic violence offenders would have been "the difference between life and death" for her sibling.

Mr Crisafulli said the LNP's proposed pilot program, to be run by Queensland Corrections, would place ankle bracelet trackers on 500 high-risk offenders, at a cost of $18 million."Monitoring perpetrators offers another level of safety for any person going through domestic violence," Ms Carroll said at the press conference.

But a Queensland criminologist has warned against focusing too heavily on victims of crime statistics, saying it could "have the opposite effect" if victims are discouraged from making complaints to police.LNP leader David Crisafulli starts the first leaders debate by vowing to quit within four years if he fails to reduce the number of victims of crime in Queensland.

"If victims are comfortable reaching out to the police for assistance, that means that they have trust in the system, and they feel they may be able to get some help." then-premier Campbell Newman hailed a 10 per cent fall in crime "across the board", but was later criticised for leaving other offencesMr Crisafulli made his announcement from the Beyond DV Hope Hub at Carindale in southern Brisbane, while also pledging $2.5 million for three new hubs in shopping centres to support victims of domestic and family violence.

"So the research doesn't support the use of ankle bracelets for domestic violence offenders. What it does support is fast and decisive responses to domestic violence," she said.
