Kensington Palace shared a series of photos and videos of the 44-year-old Princess of Wales on Sunday evening , revealing she had successfully conquered the demanding endurance challenge while raising awareness of holistic cancer care. The National Three Peaks Challenge sees participants climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours: Ben Nevis, Scotland’s tallest mountain at 1,345 metres; Scafell Pike in England at 978 metres; and Snowdon in Wales, which stands 1,085 metres high.

"Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear," Catherine penned in the caption accompanying the photo. "What follows is a path that tests every part of who we are: physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. The challenges ripple outwards, touching families, friendships, work and the quiet moments we spend alone with our thoughts.
" The Princess went on to reflect on her own experience after undergoing cancer treatment between March and September 2024. "I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back," she said. "The Royal Marsden is a place that holds great meaning for me and whose care and expertise are life-changing for so many people.
" Catherine said she also hoped the challenge would highlight the importance of holistic support for cancer patients. "We have an opportunity to reshape what the future of holistic cancer care looks like, enabling more people, nationwide, to access the kind of personalised support that can help make a meaningful difference during and after medical treatment," she said.
"This challenge will support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, helping to transform access to, and understanding of, holistic care that will enhance recovery and healing for patients across the UK. " In a separate video released by Kensington Palace, the Princess opened up further about what motivated her to undertake the challenge. "Lots of people have asked me why I'm doing this challenge, and partly it's personal," Catherine said.
Catherine paused before continuing:"But more importantly, it's to give something back, and acknowledge the incredible work going up and down this country.
"I've met some incredible people, those people who are living with and beyond cancer, and I know personally how difficult that journey is. "I really wanted to use this opportunity as my way of contributing to all of the wonderful work that's going on, and in particular to support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, an organisation very dear to me, which does extraordinary work in supporting those living with and beyond the disease.
" The Princess began the challenge on Saturday evening and crossed the finish line 24 hours later, where she was greeted by her family, including Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, along with her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, and brother James Middleton. The challenge covers a total walking distance of 37 kilometres, includes more than 3,000 metres of vertical climbing and requires participants to travel approximately 743 kilometres by road between each peak.
Catherine completed the trek solo, supported along the route by Mountain Rescue teams, with her family waiting to welcome her at the base of Snowdon in Wales.
"What an inspiration you are. Congratulations! We're so proud of you," one person wrote, while another said:"You're such an inspiration to so many. Sending prayers for continued healing and peace.
" A third added:"Fabulous! Well said and what a challenge for such a worthy cause. Magnificent. Congratulations.
" James Middleton also celebrated the achievement, writing:"So proud" alongside a love heart and mountain emoji, while British adventurer Bear Grylls added:"A true Never Give Upper! Huge respect as ever…" The Royal Marsden Hospital's official account also congratulated the Princess, posting:"We are so grateful for The Princess' support and huge congratulations on an incredible achievement. "
