A teenage boy who performed first aid on his mum and CPR on her new boyfriend, who had both been stabbed by the boy's father, has been praised by a judge for 'undoubtedly' saving his mother's life.

Kerry Lee Whiting has been sentenced to 38 years for the "appalling" stabbing of his former partner and her new boyfriend.

She said this led Whiting to enter the couple's home in the early hours of the morning with a knife, with the intention of killing them both."These were appalling crimes, significantly aggravated by the presence of your children when you committed them."Two of Whiting and Ms Harris's children were at home while the attack occurred, with their 16-year-old son wrestling Whiting off his mother.

Ms Harris described the physical and psychological impact of the attack, saying she still experienced pain in the places she was stabbed."I wanted to get tattoos to cover the scars, but I was told my skin is too damaged.""I still struggle to feel safe enough to fall asleep now, and when I do, I have nightmares," he said.Justice Jago praised the actions of the teenager, who gave first aid to Ms Harris and conducted CPR on Mr Mayne.
