Macquarie Bank customers will no longer be able to deal in cheques or deposit cash from Monday, as the bank makes the switch to digital-only operations.
Macquarie Bank will transition to an online only offering as of Monday, going cashless and closing all its physical branches. Read here for the things you will and won't be able to access.
Access to phone banking had already been removed in March and with the closure of branches all requests for assistance will have to be directed through Macquarie’s website. To prepare for the transition, all those with personal accounts will have to register themselves for online banking on the website or mobile banking through the app, and businesses with Macquarie customers will need to ensure digital payment access is provided.
Earlier in May, Macquarie said the change would improve safety and reliability of its services, and affect only about one per cent of its client base, given the bank was already a predominantly online-only offering.
