Organ transplants have declined for the first time in more than a decade as lockdowns and COVID restrictions made it difficult to get consent and match donors with recipients.

“There was concern about severely immunocompromised patients being particularly vulnerable [to COVID-19] in the weeks after a transplant,” she said. “We would like to see more people register.
