Children as young as 12 have been arrested in Brisbane’s south-east after a wild alleged escape attempt in a stolen car.
Police said officers first spotted the car near Finucane and Allenby roads in Alexandria Hills at about 9am on Saturday. When they approached the car as it was stopped at the intersection of Finucane Road and Cambridge Drive, the driver tried to get away by ramming the cars in front of it and behind it, police alleged.
“It then also allegedly rammed the police car as it pulled in front of the stolen vehicle. Two officers were inside the police vehicle at the time but were not injured,” police said in a statement. These were a 13-year-old Pacific Pines girl, a 14-year-old Eagleby girl, a 13-year-old Upper Coomera boy and a 12-year-old Coomera boy.
Each were charged with a string of offences, including wilful damage of police property and entering a dwelling. All four were denied police bail. They were expected to appear at Cleveland Children’s Court on Monday.
