Jervais Boyaram shot Muhammed Sohail dead mistakenly thinking he was the same man with whom he had an earlier altercation

A Good Samaritan was shot dead after being mistaken for someone else involved in an argument at a petrol station. Jervais Boyaram cruised the streets after the bust-up and opened fire - but got the wrong car and killed married Muhammed Sohail, who had been out helping a broken-down motorist.

He spotted 25-year-old Sohail, who was driving a similar silver VW, and followed him. After pulling up alongside Sohail’s car, Boyaram wound down his window and shot him before driving off in Saltley. The car was captured on CCTV driving across the city for five miles to an address in Yardley, where a family member of Boyaram lived, police said. Boyaram was arrested at his home in Chelmsley Wood 10 days later on February 28.

Sohail's father said today: "My son Muhammed Sohail was purely innocent in this matter and had his life taken so needlessly and without any reason. He will be missed by all of us forevermore."
