Watkins believes Derek McInnes deserved it ahead of winner McGlynn who went Invincible with Falkirk.
Marley Watkins claims Derek McInnes should have beaten John McGlynn to the PFA Scotland Manager of the Season award - because although Falkirk went undefeated, it was in a 'lower standard league.'
McGlynn's Bairns ended a five-year exile in the third tier in some style as they charged to an Invincible league season and ended 16 points clear of runners-up Hamilton. It's only the seventh time in the history of Scottish football that a team has finished a league campaign without defeat, and Kilmarnock were the only team outside of Rangers and Celtic to manage it previously, over an 18-game season in 1899.
Former Hearts and Raith Rovers boss McGlynn was nominated alongside Killie's McInnes and Dundee's Tony Docherty for the top gong and after managers up and down the leagues cast their votes, the 62-year-old won it for the second time in his career. He was presented with it on Sunday night - the day after Brad Spencer's penalty earned them a 2-2 draw with Alloa which sealed the historic Invincible campaign.
But Killie forward Watkins believes it should have gone to his manager, who led Kilmarnock to fourth in the Premiership and European football. He said: "He deserved the award, to be honest. I know the Falkirk gaffer did a great job, but at the end of the day, it's a lower standard league. With their budget, they probably should win every game.
"I'm not taking away from him, congratulations, but I think our gaffer deserved the award. That's not be being biased, it's just my honest opinion."
