A curious country house from the 1850s is awaiting its next noble custodians after hitting the market for the first time in 40 years
The towers “may have been added when the house became a hotel about 1853”.Ms King said it was “breaking her heart” to sell, but it had become too much for one person.
Michael Collins from Ian Reid Vendor Advocates said the property was expected to attract city buyers looking for a regional escape. Having renovated the property when it was bought all those years ago, Ms King has also just spent $100,000 further enhancing it, including the addition of a brick-edged asphalt driveway.“The house has been a pleasure to renovate. It’s been peaceful. We were happy here. There doesn’t seem to be, from my point of view, and if Barry was here, anything negative about it; we both enjoyed doing the renovation, which was quite a lot.
