Former Howard government minister Peter McGauran says Kim Jong Un’s partnership with Vladimir Putin has been “overstated”. Mr McGauran said he doesn’t think North Korea will be a “game changer” for Russia’s war with Ukraine. “I think North Korea has already been supplying Russia with as much armour as possible given they are a major client of the Russian military,” he told Sky News Australia. Mr McGauran said Kim Jong Un is “so paranoid” he will want to retain as much of Russia’s military hardware as possible. “I think this was a very symbolic meeting given that, what world leader goes to Russia these days – this was theatre.”
