The route King Charles III and Queen Consort will take to and from the coronation has been revealed.
Accompanied by The Sovereign’s Escort of the Household Cavalry, they will travel down The Mall via Admiralty Arch, take the south side of Trafalgar Square, then go along Whitehall and Parliament Street, take the east and south sides of Parliament Square to Broad Sanctuary, before arriving at the Abbey.
It’s also been revealed two different gilded coaches will be used for coronation, and King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will travel to Westminster Abbey in the Diamond Jubilee State Coach first used by Queen Elizabeth in 2014. On their return to Buckingham Palace they will travel in the 260-year-old Gold State Coach which was used by the Queen for her coronation in 1953.
The Royal Family have also released a special ‘Coronation emoji’ based on St Edwards’ crown, the ancient symbol of the monarchy.
