EXCLUSIVE: As King Charles arrives in Scotland for the first Holyrood Week of his reign, leading historian Tracy Borman spoke about the 'turbulent' relationship between the monarchy and Scotland which has turned into a 'deep affection'
After arriving at Kinneil House in Falkirk, His Majesty took part in the historic Ceremony of the Keys at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh and later toured Royal Yacht Britannia to mark 25 years of it being docked in the city.
Speaking to OK! during Holyrood Week - which is also known as Royal Week - Joint Chief Curator of Historic Royal Palaces Tracy Borman detailed the many links between the monarchy and Scotland, as well as how the often "turbulent" relationship has turned into a "deep affection." Tracy - who's new book Anne Boleyn & Elizabeth I: The Mother and Daughter Who Changed History was published last month - added: "There were always invasion plans, or then they would be friends for a while and there would be a marriage alliance and then they were back to being enemies, so the tradition is rivalry.
"In the grand scheme of things, the positive association between the monarchy and Scotland is relatively recent - only in the last 150 years or so - but that tradition of having a deep fondness for Scotland very much continues.
