The King has decided to scrap a 200 year old tradition at Windsor Castle, by axing the free admission to the site for local residents, a practice that has been in place since 1825.
King Charles' decision to call off the longstanding free admission for locals at Windsor Castle has sparked quite an uproar with the tradition being put in place over 200 years ago.
This is according to the BBC who reported on the Royal Collection Trust's plans to put these revised stipulations into practice for those with a Advantage Card related to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The main argument against it being voiced by Liberal Democrat candidate Julian Tisi, stating: "During the season, residents gladly welcome tourists to their shops and restaurants, they drive them around in taxis and are happy to give directions in the street.
