King of Clay dethroned, but not before Nadal serves a reminder of his greatness in Parisian thriller

The scoreboard showed a straight sets match, with Zverev prevailing 6-3 7-6 6-3. But it tells only part of the tale of a compelling spectacle lasting 3hr 5min hours that featured stunning strokes from both men and swings of momentum fit for a thriller. As a case in point, against most other rivals competing at Roland Garros, he probably would have prevailed, so high was his standard.
“I have been going through a very tough two years in terms of injuries. I went through all this process with the dream to be back at Roland Garros. I was competitive. I had my changes. But it was not enough against a great player like Sasha.”
