A mostly original brick home in the tiny northern suburb of Kingsbury sold for $975,000 at auction on Saturday.
A Clifton Hill terrace beat its reserve by $101,000.had not been updated much since being built in the 1960s, but that did not deter three bidders from competing.
“We had 12 registered bidders,” Pasceri said. “But there were only three that got involved because of the aggressive bidding of the opening bidder, which sort of threw a few out of whack.” It was the opening bidder who made the winning offer, placing a knock-out bid of $5000 to push the sale price $165,000 above the reserve.Pasceri said the house was sold to a family upgrading from a Northcote apartment.
“Kingsbury’s a really small suburb surrounded by two really large suburbs, being Reservoir and Bundoora,” he said. “So it sort of gets missed, but there’s a lot of opportunity in Kingsbury.
