The agents saw ten bidders register for the auction, including lifestyle hunters looking to create their dream home, owner occupiers wanting a view of the Brisbane skyline and the Koala Fund – a private Qld initiative set up to buy land to house koalas paid for by offsets that developers are obliged to pay.“It’s a huge acreage property for the region,” Mr McNamara said.
Bidding opened at $2m for the property, with a couple more cast before a “big jump” to $4m, Mr McNamara said.The family that owned the land for five generations were farmers, and most recently used the property for grazing cattle.“The Koala Fund bought it,” he said. “Now the koalas are going to get a new home so that’s good for them”.
