Olympic silver medallist Matt Dawson has made the brave decision to amputate part of his finger in order to compete in Paris. Australia’s hockey teams flew out to Paris on Wednesday, with Dawson safely on the flight.
Dawson speaks about nasty finger injury. But it nearly wasn’t the case if not for a huge sacrifice. Dawson, who was a member of the silver-winning team in Tokyo, suffered an injury which left the ring finger on his right hand broken. Doctors have him two choices: let it recover or have it amputated. The latter gruesome choice was the only one that would allow him to compete, so he did it. “I didn’t have much time to make the decision,” he told 7NEWS.
