The Light Blues went into the first Old Firm derby of the season on the back of a 5-1 hammering to PSV in Eindhoven to lose their play-off tie 7-3 on aggregate before suffering defeat to the Hoops at Ibrox.
Kris Boyd has labelled Rangers' week 'embarrassing' after Champions League elimination and defeat to Celtic.
Michael Beale then lost out to Brendan Rodgers at Ibrox yesterday in the first derby meeting between the pair thanks to Kyogo Furuhashi's stunning winner on the stroke of half-time. The result leaves Rangers four points behind their city rivals after just four games. That combined with the Champions League exit and a Celtic team missing four of five players has made for a week Boyd has described as 'embarrassing'.
“There’s £20million to Celtic again ahead of Rangers. It’s embarrassing. For anybody to come out and say ‘at least we can compete in the Europa League’ - give me peace. I don’t know exactly but if I had to hazard a guess, Celtic’s front three probably came in on half the amount of money the Rangers front three have in terms of the strikers who joined this season. It comes down to recruitment. If you don’t get it spot on, you’re going to come under scrutiny.
