Kremlin-backed officials say they are trying to evacuate civilians from the war-torn region.
The forced relocations are occurring on the east bank of the Dnieper River in Kherson's Skadovsky and Kakhovsky districts near other Russian-occupied territories, according to Ukraine's Foreign Ministry. Russian authorities are carrying out similar deportations in the Zaporizhzhia region, roughly 200 miles to the northeast, the ministry said.

"The deportation of residents of the temporarily occupied south is accompanied by looting by the Russian occupiers of industrial, infrastructural, cultural, educational and medical institutions, as well as private houses and apartments," the ministry said in its statement. Kherson. Yuriy Sobolevskyi, the Ukrainian-recognized deputy head of Kherson's regional council, posted a photo on his Telegram channel earlier Thursday, showing that the Russian flag was no longer flying over the region's administrative building.said during a press conference Thursday that Ukrainian forces are capable of securing the remaining territory of the Dnieper River.
