Kyle Schwarber hit the go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting the host Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-4 win over the San Diego Padres in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Schwarber also homered and joined Brandon Marsh in knocking in two runs for the Phillies, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Craig Kimbrel worked around two walks in a scoreless ninth to secure his 15th save in 15 chances. Manny Machado flied out to shallow right field to end the game as second baseman Bryson Stott caught the ball while colliding with outfielder Nick Castellanos.Ha-Seong Kim added three hits and Xander Bogaerts added two for the Padres, who saw their three-game winning streak come to a halt.
Bryce Harper came in to pinch hit in the eighth and produced an RBI infield single to forge a tie. Schwarber followed with an RBI single to center and Trea Turner added an RBI single for a 6-4 advantage.
