Shanahan said he gets nervous about weather once a year, and this seems like one of those times.
Specifically, the coach was asked whether there were any contingency plans for the team practicing somewhere other than its facilities in Santa Clara. Shanahan said there aren't but took a rather optimistic approach to the whole thing.
“There's no lightning and stuff, so as long as you don't mind getting wet, it's a distraction test,” he said. “It's always better if — I mean you never want it to rain on game day, but if you're going to practice in it all week, or if you know it's going to rain on Sunday, you might as well practice in it, so that's the way it's looking right now.”
Shanahan added that he talked about contingencies “a lot” when the Niners first hired him, but years of not experiencing much rain have relaxed his concerns.
