Kyle Walker has agreed a new Manchester City deal taking him to 2026 after considering a summer exit to Bayern Munich
Kyle Walker nearly left Manchester City this summer but now hopes to captain the club after agreeing a new three-year deal.
However, City responded emphatically with Guardiola keen not to lose the defender’s quality and experience having already Ilkay Gundogan depart. It meant that instead of heading to Munich, Walker has instead signed a new deal in Manchester that takes him to 2026 - when he will be 36."The extension is coming.
"I wanted to stay and live out the contract but I also wanted to play football so if I don’t feel that I am getting enough game time whether that is on x amount of pounds or no pounds I just want to play football. The vote for this season’s captain and captaincy group is yet to take place, with Guardiola keen for the squad to be finalised after the transfer window before letting everyone decide. Walker is happy to stand in for the injured De Bruyne, but would also be thrilled to be given the responsibility on a permanent basis.
