Nick Kyrgios needs a mentor or coach that he actually listens to, Ashleigh Barty is not in her 'natural habitat' at No.1 and, while a great fighter, Alex de Minaur's serve is a liability. So says American tennis legend John McEnroe AusOpen AustralianOpen
McEnroe, who is about to land in Australia to commentate at the Australian Open for Channel Nine and ESPN, toldthat Kyrgios was "a good person" and "excellent team player" - the pair having worked together in the Laver Cup - but that Kyrgios had to be fitter and more committed if he was to win majors.
"But he's never reached out to me - other than when we're at the Laver Cup when he's been a good teammate and a good person, a good guy to have around - he's never reached out to me to say, 'Hey, you want to come meet in the Bahamas or Australia or this, that or the other thing'."McEnroe, who coached Milos Raonic for a period of about 10 weeks in 2016, said he could do something along those lines.
