American TV reporter David Muir has been given an almighty dressing down on social media after viewers spotted him in a vain wardrobe act while covering the Los Angeles wildfires. During a live cross from the Palisades, where Muir surveyed the damage to more than 1000 structures destroyed by the raging fires, eagle-eyed viewers spotted the bizarre detail. It was only when Muir turned around to face the damage that it became apparent a wooden peg was in-shot on the back of his fireproof jacket.

Glad you look nice and svelte with those clothesline pegs, while our city burns to the ground,” Jack Osbourne — son of metal icon Ozzy — wrote in a caption to the video in an X post. Others called Muir “narcissistic” for his wardrobe act. “Another talking head proving that vanity is far more important than the news,” said one.
