La Grange Park’s Public Works department was in focus April 11, with the Board of Trustees approving slightly under $2 million in spending on infrastructure and maintenance.

By a good margin, the most expensive item was the replacement of the water main on Park Road from Ogden to Harding avenues and Richmond Avenue between Park and Brainard avenues. The cost approved for the replacement comes to $1,776,740, and will be performed by Unique Plumbing, a Brookfield-based company with 60 years of experience.

Durability is a priority, Sheehan said after the vote, especially with recurring leaks in recent years. Technically, the additional $140,000 for the engineering work for the water main replacement won’t be approved until the April 25 Board meeting, but the Board approved the village manager to execute the agreements between the contractor and the Village.

Last, the Board also approved a not-to-exceed $40,000 contract to St. Aubin Nursery to purchase and plant parkway trees throughout the Village.
