Greens Leader Adam Bandt says the Labor government “is giving the United Nations the middle finger” by continuing to open coal and gas mines despite the clear warning that it will lead to a climate collapse.
“This latest report, the final warning from the United Nations and the world scientists, should give Labor every justification it needs to… stop opening new coal and gas mines,” he said.
“The government now needs to decide whether they’re going to listen to the UN secretary-general or whether they’re going to barrel on, opening up new coal and gas mines and condemning our children to an unliveable future”.
