Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says he isn’t “surprised” at the Australian Energy Market Operator’s warning of the increased possibility of power shortages along with increased energy prices for next year.

“Because what this report means is that it means a lot more suffering for Australian families, it means power prices are not coming down soon,” he told Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“It means the promise that you were made about a year ago at the federal election by Anthony Albanese that your bills will be cut by $275 a year just is not going to happen.”
