Childcare will be cheaper for families earning under $174,000 if Labor is victorious at the upcoming election. The $4 billion package was announced by Bill Shorten in the Melbourne suburb of Box Hill on Sunday.

Childcare will be effectively free for families earning less than $69,000, provided they pass a work activity test. Mr Shorten also announced free dental care for pensioners, while accusing the Coalition of being too preoccupied with the ‘big end of town’ to care about workers’ wage increases.
