Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham says the Labor government’s last budget was “expansionary” and “inflationary” as Australia’s economy is likely to be one of the worst-performing in the Asia-Pacific.
“We’ve seen two Albanese government budgets now, the last one was clearly described by many economic commentators as expansionary and therefore inflationary,” he told Sky News Australia.
“This is harm being caused in Canberra to our economy and all Australians are sadly paying the price.”

Labor appoints the most ‘radical’ hard-left activist as president of the ALRCSky News host Amanda Stoker says Hon Justice Mordecai Bromberg is the most radical, hard-left activist the Federal Court bench has yet seen. Ms Stoker’s remarks come after Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus appointed Mr Bromberg as President of the Australian Law Reform Commission for a five-year term. “Justice Bromberg, to put it lightly, just does not have a good track record,” she said. Ms Stoker said Mr Dreyfus has given an “important signal” that federal Labor isn’t content to be a mainstream party. “If this is the kind of activist he would appoint to the Australian Law Reform Commission, just imagine what he will do to the High Court,” she said.
