Fighting to win back the key battleground electorate of Herbert in north Queensland, Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has announced plans to spend $22 million to develop a Townsville industrial hub if Labor wins the federal election.
in north Queensland, Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has announced plans to spend $22 million to develop a Townsville industrial hub if Labor wins the federal election.
Mr Albanese said the pledge would bring total federal government spending on the project to $34 million, helping create about 6000 permanent jobs when the site is fully operational. “This is a prime example of Labor’s infrastructure investments enabling the next generation of economic growth for regional Australia,” she said.
He is expected to spend much of the week in the Coalition-held seats of Pearce, Swan, Hasluck and Stirling.
