The Labor Party and federal politics in general is in deep shock over the sudden death of Victorian ALP senator Kimberly Kitching on Thursday.The affable Senator Kitching was a fierce human rights campaigner, an early and strident critic of China and defender of national security, and one of Labor’s best senators in terms of holding the government to account.Regardless, she was facing a struggle to hold her spot with internal moves afoot to replace her.
