The shadow chancellor will say that the UK is currently at an 'inflection point' like it was in 1979 when Thatcher came to power.

Rachel Reeves has said that a Labour government will be as economically radical as Margaret Thatcher.

Like the former Tory leader she will also pledge to "reject managed decline" but will say that growth "must be broad-based, inclusive, and resilient."It comes just months after Labour leader Keir Starmer was criticised for appearing to praise Thatcher. "As we did at the end of the 1970s, we stand at an inflection point, and as in earlier decades, the solution lies in wide-ranging supply-side reform to drive investment, remove the blockages constraining our productive capacity, and fashion a new economic settlement, drawing on evolutions in economic thought.
