A solicitor representing families who lost loved ones to the virus has said the ‘only logical response’ to the inquiry losing its court case to the Government would be the chairman resigning as she would be unable to do her job janemerrick23 reports

Speaking at a press conference at the TUC, Mr Abrahamson, head of major inquests and inquiries at Broudie Jackson Canter, said: “Make no mistake, this is not a legal issue, this is not a legal battle about legal rights of ministers to privacy against the rights of the inquiry to have an investigation.

“So I hope and expect that the the inquiry will win in that battle, there is a concern that if they don’t win, the chair quite clearly having said that she needs to see this material in order to have a proper inquiry, the courts say to her well you can’t see it, it seems to me the only logical response of the chair is to resign because she can’t properly do her job. So I think this is an existential struggle between politics and the inquiry.
