Passengers and crew on board superyacht Lady Pamela have been fined by NSW police for allegedly breaching the conditions of their exemption to COVID-19 restrictions as they sailed from Melbourne to the Gold Coast
NSW Police Marine Detective Chief Inspector Todd Cunningham confirmed that police were alleging construction industry magnate Mark Simonds and three other passengers from the Lady Pamela were spotted at a cafe in NSW, two days after leaving Melbourne.revealed last week that the vessel docked on the Gold Coast on August 24 after leaving Melbourne on August 9, and is alleged to have stopped on at least five occasions as it sailed up the east coast.
Detective Chief Inspector Cunningham confirmed that nine separate fines of $1000 had been issued for alleged breaches in Eden, Port Stephens and Yamba. Mr Numa was handed a $4003 fine last week for making a false declaration. That fine has since been withdrawn. The Simonds family, Ms Fox and three crew were originally granted an exemption to cross Queensland's closed borders on August 23 by the state's Chief Health Officer, Jeannette Young, on the basis the yacht was being sailed to the state for repairs and would not be stopping.
