But it most certainly didn’t dampen the spirit of the Lake Creek Lions.
The Lions celebrated as a team in the circle after the weather suddenly produced precipitation and the temperature dropped about eight degrees or so after the sun went away.“It felt good,” Brown, who tossed 103 pitches for the complete game, said afterwards. “Better than it going up five or six degrees.”
It was a battle of two programs at state for the first time ever. Lake Creek is in its fourth year while the Blue Hawks completed its second season. “It started out a little rough,” Lopez said. “It was just getting the nerves out. Being at this stage was something we were excited about, but nervous at the same time.”
“I felt good,” Brown said. “I feed off of the pressure and I feed off them trying to get in my head. That just makes me more within myself and I just tell myself to breath and get in the zone.”
