Anglers are reeling in plenty of barramundi from a Queensland dam that could lose some prized stock if more rain forces it to spill.
Adam Turner was one of a few anglers taking catfish out of Lake Monduran to help baby barramundi survive when he first threw a line in 25 years ago.
Four days before Christmas in 2010, Queenslander Denis Harrold reeled in a monster weighing 44.64 kilograms and measuring 134 centimetres. "Since the floods in 2013, it's been gradually getting better every year, so this year is probably the best," Mr Turner said.Mr Turner won the annual Lake Monduran family fishing competition in October with a 122cm barra.Fred Haigh Dam was constructed in the 1970s across the Kolan River, creating Lake Monduran.The freshwater basin has become a haven for fishing and water sports enthusiasts.
