This matchup is going to be difficult.
Ahead of your Lakers' matchup on Wednesday with the new-look Los Angeles Clippers, a few key members of the team are banged up, and could potentially impact the Lakers' chances of coming away with a win.Rui Hachimura is doubtful with an eye contusion, which hurts the team's wing depth significantly. Pairing this with Cam Reddish being probable but potentially not at 100%, dealing with the best group of wings in the league , becomes that much more difficult.
The Clippers will be quite depleted, having surrendered four forwards , plus a bunch of picks , to acquire James Harden, P.J. Tucker and little-used rookie center Filip Petrušev. It’s doubtful any of the new pieces will be cleared in time, while the Clips will still be down the three traded rotation pieces .
We've also yet to see the debut of Jalen Hood-Schifino, LA's first round pick this past draft. Adding him to the fold could add a defensively-skilled big-bodied guard to throw at some of the Clippers' skilled guards/wings. Jarred Vanderbilt continues to be out with left heel bursitis, which, as of last week, was expected to keep him out for 2 weeks. This, similar to Rui and Reddish's issues, greatly hurts the Lakers' wing depth and defense, both of which were supposed to be some of the team's most valuable assets, especially in matchups like this.
With regards to what to expect in the game, expect more Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes, as the given the Clippers' size at the wing position and the Lakers' injuries, Darvin Ham will need to get creative with defensive coverages on their stud guards and forwards.
