decided to bet on himself rather than reach terms on a contract extension. So far, it’s paying off big time.
Jackson’s Sunday afternoon performance against the Patriots marked the seventh time in his career he’s thrown three or more touchdowns while also recording over 85 rushing yards. That’s five more than Cam Newton, the only other quarterback to have more than one such game since 1950. It was also the second straight game in which Jackson threw for at least three touchdowns and rushed for at least 100 yards. No quarterback in NFL history has ever done that in back-to-back games.
One of the most impressive parts about Jackson’s 2022 season so far is the development we’ve seen from him as a passer. Despite having more pass attempts through his first three starts in a season than in any other year, he’s only thrown two interceptions. He’s also performing better against the blitz than he has in previous years.
